UCAPAN PENGETUA
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
Terlebih dahulu, izinkan saya memperkenalkan diri. Saya Ustaz Muktar bin Muhmad, Pengetua Kolej Seroja, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
Sekian, terima kasih.

ENGLISH VERSION
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, Good Day, and Salam UNIMAS Gemilang.
Distinguished guests, respected colleagues, members of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, dear students, ladies and gentlemen.
Alhamdulillah, all praise and gratitude are due to Allah SWT for His blessings and grace, which have given us the opportunity to gather here today.
First and foremost, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ustaz Muktar bin Muhmad, Principal of Kolej Seroja, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). On behalf of the entire management team and community of Kolej Seroja, it is my great pleasure to extend a very warm welcome to Kolej Seroja to all our distinguished guests and participants.
Kolej Seroja is one of the residential colleges of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, providing students with a safe, comfortable and conducive living environment. In fulfilling this responsibility, our role extends beyond providing accommodation and facilities. We also place great importance on student welfare, safety, discipline, personal development, leadership and overall well-being.
We strongly believe that a residential college is more than simply a place for students to stay during their studies. It forms an important part of the university's educational ecosystem and provides an environment where students can develop their character, maturity, leadership qualities, sense of community and responsibility.
Therefore, the management of Kolej Seroja continuously strives to create a harmonious and inclusive campus living environment through close cooperation among the college management, Fellows, Assistant Fellows, staff, the College Representative Committee (JPK), and most importantly, our students.
We also greatly value the diversity of backgrounds, cultures and experiences that every student brings to our community. We believe that this diversity is one of our strengths. It enriches the campus experience and helps us build a community based on mutual respect, understanding and support.
It is my sincere hope that every student who stays at Kolej Seroja will not only have a meaningful academic journey at UNIMAS, but will also leave with valuable experiences, wonderful memories and positive values that will remain with them throughout their lives.
Once again, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to Kolej Seroja and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. May your time with us be meaningful and memorable, and may all the programmes and activities planned for this occasion be carried out smoothly and successfully achieve their intended objectives.
Thank you.
Wassalamualaikum.

About SEROJA
College Seroja is one of the residential colleges of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), strategically located at the University’s East Campus. Recognised as the first residential college established in UNIMAS, College Seroja holds an important place in the University’s history and the development of its student residential services. The construction of the college was completed in June 2004, and it began accommodating UNIMAS students from the 2004/2005 academic session.
Since June 2010, College Seroja has been designated primarily as the residential college for UNIMAS Pre-University students. This dedicated role enables the college to provide a residential environment that supports students during their transition from secondary education to university life. Beyond providing accommodation, the college serves as an important platform for student development, community engagement, leadership activities, welfare support, and the overall residential experience of Pre-University students.
One of the distinctive features of College Seroja is its dormitory-style residential concept, which differs from the accommodation arrangements adopted by several other residential colleges within UNIMAS. The college comprises five residential blocks – Blocks A, B, M, N and P – together with various facilities and supporting amenities designed to meet the daily needs of its residents.
The facilities available within the College Seroja complex include the College Administration Office, cafeteria, mini mart, laundry facilities, surau, study rooms and other supporting spaces for student activities and residential services. These facilities contribute towards creating a convenient, supportive and conducive living and learning environment for the college community.
Over the years, College Seroja has continued to evolve in response to changes in student enrolment, accommodation requirements and the operational needs of the University. While maintaining its historical significance as UNIMAS’ first residential college, College Seroja continues to play an important role in supporting the welfare, development and campus experience of UNIMAS Pre-University students.
